An Experimental Investigation of Passive Jet Control Method on Bridge Tower Wake

In this study, we employed a four-hole cobra probe to measure the wake characteristics of rec-tangular bridge tower model in wind tunnel. The scale was 1:30, and Reynolds number varied from 1.38 × 105 2.27 by changing yaw angle. A measurement plane with 9 19 points horizontally set at middle height behind model. test without control, i.e., baseline case, first tested angle range 0° 90°; then, four kinds passive jet control cases were study their effects on wake. To evaluate characteristics, three main aspects, mean velocity, turbulence intensity, velocity frequency, investigated. meas-urement results indicate that method can achieve an effect suppressing but slightly modify distribution. dominant frequency distribution region eliminated when small expanded large differences between show trend larger suction coefficient is, better are.
